How to Prepare for your Tattoo Session.

Preparing for a tattoo is essential to ensure a positive and successful experience. Here's a list of things to do before getting a tattoo:

1. **Hygiene and Skin Care:**

- Keep the skin clean and moisturized in the days leading up to the tattoo.

- Avoid sunburn or irritation in the tattoo area.

2. **Stay Hydrated:**

- Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment to keep your skin hydrated.

3. **Avoid Alcohol and Drugs:**

- Refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs at least 24 hours before getting tattooed.

4. **Get Adequate Sleep:**

- Ensure you have a good night's sleep before your appointment.

5. **Eat Well:**

- Have a healthy meal before your appointment to maintain your energy levels. Bring snacks if your tattoo will be more than an hour or two, but please don’t eat them near the tattoo area.

6. **Wear Comfortable Clothing:**

- Dress in a way that allows easy access to the area getting tattooed. Also wear clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting ink on.

7. **Bring Valid ID:**

- Make sure to bring a valid ID, especially if it's your first time at the studio.

8. **Payment:**

- Be prepared to pay for the tattoo. Some artists prefer cash, but I prefer Venmo, CashApp, or ApplePay.

9. **Pain Management:**

- If you're concerned about pain, consult your doctor about taking pain medications that don’t affect blood clotting or thin the blood. Also, there are many one the counter numbing creams available on the market than can be applied before the tattoo and that will give varying degrees of relief for the first hour or so of the procedure.

10. **Arrange Transportation:**

- Plan how you'll get to and from the studio, especially if you anticipate discomfort after the session.

11. **Inform the Artist of Medical Conditions:**

- If you have any medical conditions or are taking medications, inform your artist beforehand.

12. **Relaxation Techniques:**

- Practice relaxation techniques to help manage stress and anxiety during the tattooing process. I also recommend that you bring headphones so that you can entertain/distract yourself with music, movies, etc.

13. **Prepare for Aftercare:**

- Familiarize yourself with the aftercare instructions on the aftercare page.

By taking these steps, you can help ensure a smooth and enjoyable tattoo experience while promoting optimal healing afterward.
